BEIJING!

Our final trip to an Asian country was amazing!

EAT, SKI, LOVE

Our Niseko ski trip was different from any other vacation we’ve taken.

LET IT SNOW

I wish I had been more on top of things so that I could have made some “winter is coming” and Game of Thrones puns. However, I’m too late. Winter isn’t coming; winter is here. It’s presence is well known, and I believe it will be here to stay for quite awhile.

CAMBODIA: EXPLORING THE KHMER KINGDOM

Cambodia is the seventh country Jared and I have visited, and you would think that after all these vacations and living in a foreign country the allure of travel might start to fade or the sense of awe in a new environment is lessened. However, Cambodia was so entirely different from anywhere we have visited, that it felt like I was seeing the world with new eyes.

JEJU: A KINGDOM BY THE SEA

There were no fireworks. No hot dogs. No parades with small children waving red, white, and blue flags. However, we still managed to have an amazing Fourth of July in Korea!

KOREA IS IN ASIA

As I mentioned in my first post, I am woefully ignorant about Korea. Before learning that I would be moving to the country, this is what I knew:

  • Korea is in Asia.
  • The people there are called Koreans.
  • There is a North Korea and a South Korea.
  • North Korea is Communist. South Korea is not.
  • North Korea is trying to make nuclear weapons and occasionally launches rockets.
  • There was a war between the two and the USA was involved.
  • Due to that involvement the Army still has posts in Korea.
  • Kim Jong-il came from North Korea.
  • Gangnam Style came from South Korea.
